SDPC offers kids free summer meals

COUNTY — During the summer, the School District of Pickens County will provide a free breakfast and lunch to school-age children up to 18 years of age.

The Summer Food Service Program, which will be housed at West End Elementary and Pickens Elementary, is open to all children in Pickens County.

“The program is intended to provide children in our area the foods they need to continue to learn, play, and grow when school is out for the summer,” said director of student nutrition services Sally Nicholson, RD, LD.

Breakfast and lunch will be served Monday through Friday from June 6-August 19. The program will be closed on Monday, July 4, in recognition of Independence Day.

Breakfast will be served from 7-8 a.m., while lunch will be served from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
West End Elementary is located at 314 Pelzer Highway in Easley. Pickens Elementary is located at 567 Hampton Avenue in Pickens.

The Summer Food Service Program is federally funded by the USDA and administered through the South Carolina Department of Education and the School District of Pickens County.
