South Carolina has beautiful beaches. And we love visiting them. But our most recent trip down made something obvious and showed us that things are not what they used to be.

I’m not talking about the overdeveloped areas that more closely resemble Las Vegas, but the beaches themselves.

There had already been a scare when we thought that drilling off our shore might get the green light. We had visions of the BP disaster in the gulf and pictured something similar in our own backyard.
