Six Mile Issaqueena Festival is May 18

SIX MILE — The 2013 Issaqueena Festival will be held on Saturday, May 18, from 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. in downtown Six Mile. 

Main Street will be closed from Liberty Highway to Six Mile Baptist Church during the festival.

There will be free entertainment provided by Providence Quartet, Mile Marker 0, Y.A.M.S./Sweet Potato Pie Kids, Mtn. View Baptist Quartet and the Daniel HS Band Ensemble. There will also be performances by The Hotfoot Cloggers and the Blue Ridge Mountain Cloggers. The Critter Keeper will also be on stage that morning with all kinds of creepers and crawlers. There will be plenty of room to sit down and enjoy the entertainment under canopies at both ends of Main Street.

Free activities for children will include four different inflatables such as a Moon Walk, Slide, Bungee Run and Obstacle Course. Vendor items for sale include handmade wooden items such as bowls and pens, handmade pottery, handmade jewelry, polymer clay items, and children’s apparel and accessories. The Blood Mobile will also be there for those who are willing and able to help save a life. The festival committee is still accepting applications for vendors

There will be a car show at Six Mile Baptist Church starting at 9 a.m.. Entries must be in by 10 a.m. for judging, and the entry fee will be canned goods to help a local food bank. For additional information about the car show, please call (864) 868-9138.

This year there will also be a 6k run/walk “Flight for the Fight” benefiting the Pickens County Cancer Association. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. at the old fire department. For more information, visit www.flightforthefight.com.
