Southside Christian blasts Red Devils

GREENVILLE — Liberty traveled to Greenville to take on Southside Christian in the teams’ regular-season finale on Friday night, and the Sabres aired it out en route to a convincing 40-0 win over the Red Devils.
With the loss, the Red Devils dropped to .500 and finished the regular season 5-5, including a winless mark in region play, going 0-3 against Abbeville, Ninety Six and Southside Christian.
The Liberty offense struggled all night against a stingy Southside Christian defense on Friday. The Devils were limited to a season-low 105 yards rushing on the night. They had 44 rushing attempts and averaged a paltry 2.4 yards per carry.
It was not until the last play of the game that the Red Devils cracked the 100-yard mark on the ground in the game. Cavaugio Butler gained 7 yards as Liberty was able to get a play off just as the clock expired.
