State parks service schedules 5K series
UPSTATE — The South Carolina State Parks Service has planned a series of 5K races to take place over the next several months.
The S.C. State Park Come Out & Play 5K Series kicked off with the Valentine’s Day Couples Run at Paris Mountain State Park last month and will continue this month with the Cabin Fever 5K at Oconee State Park, set for an 11 a.m. start on March 19. In April, the series will come to Pickens County, with the Spring Sprint at Table Rock State Park, which will begin at 10 a.m. on April 16. The Mountain Laurel Run is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. May 14 at Keowee-Toxaway State Park, while the final race in the series is the Grenade Dash, planned for 9 a.m. June 11 at Croft State Park in Spartanburg.
The fun run events are open to all experienced or novice runners, joggers or walkers, and the races will wind along the trails and roads inside the state parks.
Door prizes, top-place finish prizes and T-shirts will be available for all who register for the 5K. All proceeds will go towards trail improvements and construction.
