Summer art classes for kids and adults planned at museum
PICKENS — The Pickens County Museum of Art and History recently announced that registration is now open for summer studio art sessions for youngsters and adults led by Renee Gillespie.
The children’s summer studio art class is for ages 8-14 years old and will be held on Tuesdays from 2-4 p.m. on June 16, 23 and 30 and July 7, 14 and 21.
The six-week session being held in the Liz Smith-Cox Educational Studio will encourage artistic youth to develop and refine their art skills and creativity while they learn to use acrylics, watercolors, pastels and collage techniques to create their works of art. Students will need to wear art class clothes or bring a smock or apron to class. Art supplies are included in the tuition fee.
An adult painting class with Gillespie will be held on Tuesdays, 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on June 16, 23 and 30 and July 7, 14 and 21.
The six-week session being held in the Liz Smith-Cox Educational Studio is open to those who paint with acrylics or watercolors. Each student will choose the subject of their painting and will receive individual instruction at each class. Instruction will be based on the painter’s skill level. Novice painters may begin with basic painting exercises. Students will provide their own supplies. A supply list, if needed, will be given at first class.
Tuition for the classes is $88, or $78 for museum members. Pre-registration is required. Tuition must be paid prior to the first class. No refunds on tuition will be available after the start of the class. Class size is limited, so register today.
