Trail Life USA troop to hold fall recruiting drive

SIX MILE — Trail Life USA (TLUSA) Troop SC-1001 in Six Mile will have a fall membership campaign beginning at the first regular meeting of the new school year.

The group will host a recruiting drive during its regular meeting on Monday, Sept. 8, at 7 p.m. in the Roper Building, located at 150 N. Main St. in Six Mile.

The meeting is for anyone interested in becoming part of the troop as an adult leader or a participant.

TLUSA is a Christian outdoor adventure program for boys and young men ages 5-24; Troop SC-1001 focuses on boys, age 5 to 18.

The overall program focuses on outdoor adventure, character, and leadership. Dr. George Kessler is the Troop Master and brings many years of outdoor exploration and character development experience to every meeting.

Adult leaders must be at least 18 years old and are required to sign a statement of Christian faith and values, undergo child and youth safety protection training, submit to background checks, and provide letters of recommendation from pastors that know the applicants.

The program has an inclusion policy for youth members and welcomes families with boys from all faiths (or no faith) to participate in an unapologetically Christian outdoor adventure and character development program.
