US attorney, Upstate solicitors tackling gun crimes

GREENVILLE — The federal government and area solicitors are teaming up in an effort to secure longer prison terms for gun charges.
U.S. Attorney Sherri Lydon and several Upstate solicitors announced the partnership Thursday morning at the Greenville County Courthouse.
“Reducing violent crime in South Carolina is a top priority of the United States Attorney’s Office,” Lydon said.
She said one of her biggest shocks after taking office was “just how many shots are fired on the streets of our communities.”
